"I just started my freelancing business last year June 2020, then when I hit my first 6-digit ng October, nagpagawa kami agad ng bahay."

This is what Bhebs told us.

But she didn't start that way.

In fact, she used to work in Jollibee as a scholar to finish her studies.

She also worked as a real estate agent to get an allowance.

And right after college, she worked in a foreign company as a marketing assistant.

Getting Php16,000 per month.

If you think about it, sakto lang sahod nya kasi nag-boboarding house pa sya.

And for someone na hindi pala-tambay sa Facebook, she doesn't know that freelancing exists.

Good thing, she was able to discover groups that provide free trainings like FLIP.

This made her curious, especially seeing people who are hitting 6-figures a month.

Fast forward today...

She's one of the success stories in freelancing — from fast food worker to funnel builder.

Not a techie.

No graphic design skills.

No coding skills.

How did she do it?

And how was she able to hit her first 6 figures as a freelancer?

Notable Quotes:

  • So it's not really about the platform, it's about your skills.
So yun talaga yung inaral ko and then I got my first client ko, yung two dollars per hour. So dun yun talaga, so very helpful talaga yung mga free courses.
  • So, meron akong favorite quote from uhm Henry Ford, so sabi nya, "Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right." So, if you believe na ready ka na mag freelancing so tama ka. Pero if you believe na hindi mo pa kaya? Well, tama ka. Kasi it's all about your mindset. Kaya kung ano man yung iniisip mo, so either kaya mo or hindi? Tama ka.
  • So it's really important na, you understand, not just in your head but also in your heart that you can become successful in freelancing.
  • And then, if you are willing to start in freelancing? Just start. So hindi uubra yung how po? Kailangan mag take action ka. Kasi yes you can get answers kung how pero kung di ka naman magti-take action wala rin di ba?
  • And then also, maraming free resources. Merong trainings or tutorials sa youtube. Ayan, merong free trainings sa facebook groups kagaya nga dyan sa FLIP. And then meron din mga basta, yung mga free trainings na yan. You can learn the skills from there kung ano man yung skills na gusto mo. And then, if that's not enough? Meron din, it's really optional na mag invest ka sa isang course but if you believe na yung course na yun will help you? Don't be afraid to invest. Yun lang yung masasabi ko dun.
  • And then after that, so mag aral ka ng mag aral, and then after mo pag aralan lahat, implement. Kailangan i-implement mo lahat kasi yung mga free resources and then yung mga free trainings or kahit yung mga paid courses. Ayan, it is really useless if hindi mo sila i-implement. So, guide lang talaga sila.
  • So after that show off everyday. Provide value to your audience to your target client, ideal clients and then always client hunting. Maglaan ka ng at least kahit man lang 1-hour a day, 1-hour per day sa pagka client hunt, that's already enough. And then syempre at first hindi siya magiging madali pero since na alam mo na hindi siya magiging madali, you can prepare yourself already and then your mindset kasi alam mo na hindi madali di ba?
  • And then hindi ka pwedeng mag stop. All you need to do is think of the reasons why ka nag start ng freelancing.

Journey To Freelancing

  • Worked in a fast-food chain to earn her scholarship finishing her studies.
  • Worked as a real estate agent, an in-house broker to get the allowance helping her in her study.
  • After graduating from college, she worked as a marketing assistant to a foreign company in Mandaluyong earning as much as 16,000 pesos per month.
  • A year and a few months later, that foreign company closed completely. A friend of hers then opened up to her about Upwork. But facing hardships of Upwork's approval, her account was never approved.
  • With her account on Upwork not being approved, she then started searching online. She started searching on Facebook and found out that there are free trainings conducted online. Through her search, she then found the Facebook group FLIP. It was the very first group she joined which taught her the difference between freelancing and home-based jobs. Joining FLIP, she started watching different free trainings.
  • In 2016, after giving birth, with months of watching a number of free training sessions, she started applying all she learned, and just within a month, she got her very first client in another platform, onlinejobs.ph.
  • Unfortunately, her husband lost his job. Because of the pandemic, all the people in the household where she and her family are staying, also lose their jobs. She was the only one left working. And yet, also because of the pandemic, her clients decreased and her workload was affected. She then started searching online again and read a post of someone who is earning 100,000 pesos a month because of freelancing. She was shocked. And she realized that even doubling her clients would not reach the same amount. Not 100,000, not even 50,000. Because of this series of events, she asked herself then the question "why" and did her research. Not only did she find out the difference between freelancing and work-from-home jobs, she also discovered the answer to what she has been doing wrong. She discovered an online training course for freelancing worth 7,000 pesos and enrolled.
  • Wanted to do web design but narrowed it down to funnel design.
  • Even without any experience in coding, not much of a techie, not a graphic designer, she wanted to do funnel design. By then, she started searching for resources. She signed for a free trial on Clickfunnels, designed a simple funnel, and presented it to her very first client on funnel design.
  • Continued to market herself, her talent, her skills, and her experiences. She provided value to her clients, continued to study funnel design and funnel building, and developed new skills throughout the course.
  • Learned how to do design hacking; analysis of the websites' content, applied changes and implemented it.
  • Now, she earns a consistent income of six figures a month.
  • Her next step is to create her own agency and to be able to help other freelancers under her wing.

Q & A Highlights

Pano po yung design hacking? Pano ko pano po sya macopy? Coding po ba yun?

Pinagaya niya sakin yung buong landing page ng digital marketer, so that was design hacking. Then after that we make some tweaks.

Usually if you are a beginner in funnel design or funnel building, pwede mong irequire sa client na sila yung gagawa ng ng copy. If you really can't do copywriting, you can also outsource and make up a collaboration with other freelancers. So hindi mo kailangan pag aralan siya lalo na kung first time mo pa lang mag funnel. So pwede kang makipag collaborate sa iba. Pero I can say na maganda kapag natuto ka rin mag copywriting pero syempre one step at a time. Kung funnel building, mag funnel building ka muna and then funnel design and then copywriting. Kahit aling mauna dun okay lang.

Are you using all the templates from clickfunnels po or gumagawa ka din po ba from scratch?

I'm doing everything from scratch.

How do you handle if a client asks you to make a funnel that is not your specialty (not clickfunnels) po? And how to say no if you see red flags sa client?

Sinasabi ko lang sa kanila na specialty ko yung clickfunnels but I can also do it in other funnel platforms. Kasi lahat ng funnels, lahat ng itsura ng funnels, in terms of designing, it's drag and drop. Kayang kaya mo na mag shift to another platform if you know the basics. Madali na lang sabihin sa client na kaya mo siyang pag aralan because you already know the basics of funnel building and also yung basics nung funnel design. So it's not really about the platform, it's about your skills. Wag kang mag da-doubt sa skills mo.

Was there ever a time na nag turn down ka ng ano ng client?

Most of the time nag tu-turn down ako ng client lalo na yung mga hindi pa ready or not really in my target market.

Could you please describe to us your ideal client Ms.Bhebs?

Kasi I need to finalize muna yung , ayusin ko muna yung system ko. Siguro soon.
