Have you ever experienced getting dumped?

You might say "normal naman yata yan."

But what if you get dismissed during one of the worst times.

Our JasSuccess guest this Wednesday, January 20 at 5 PM was dropped by her client during the pandemic.

Ouch!

She'll share with us her journey and how she's able to overcome this painful experience.

Be moved and inspired by this wonder mom by watching this replay.

Introduction

Patrixia is a BS in Hospitality and Management Major in Culinary Arts graduate. She lives in Lipa, Batangas with her family.

She was a Team Lead in a BPO Company in Manila. After resigning from a long-time corporate job, she decided to go freelance. She now has multiple clients, working full time while spending quality time with her husband and son.

Notable Quotes

  • It's a good thing na nag purchase ako nung courses dahil atleast may pang back-up.
  • Believe in yourself. Kailangan lang magpahinga, and always weigh the pro's and con's. Kasi at the end of the day, ikaw lang talaga ang makakatulong sa sarili mo.

Journey to Freelancing:

  • She was introduced to Jayson Dulay's courses by her sister-in-law in 2017. She was concerned at first that the course was a scam, but nevertheless enrolled in the course, and paid in installments.
  • She quit her 3-year BPO job and continued working online, but her client’s online company was among the many that decided to let go of its employees when the pandemic started to spread around the globe.
  • She was then offered a job from a friend at her agency, but after a month of delayed payments, she resigned. And continued with the VABootcamp course instead.
  • After she had completed the course, she joined the Guided Hustle Challenge where she learned how to create a cover letter properly. The first two weeks were difficult, but she just kept trying. By the fourth week, she was invited to an interview with a client.
  • She realized that she should've completed the VABootcamp courses earlier in 2018, as it would have helped her gain valuable experience even earlier. She realized it would've been an alternative to her corporate job.
  • Patrixia has no plans to return to a corporate job. She had found her new calling, as a freelancer.
  • She now manages multiple clients while working from home with her family. And is also one of the moderators for the Freelancers in the Philippines Facebook group (FLIP) – by Jason Dulay’s Facebook Community group.

Question and Answer

Why did you move into freelancing more than looking for a different corporate job?

For me kasi, napagod na ako sa pagtatravel back and forth.

Am I correct in assuming that?

Pero after I got those clients, na kapag-bayad na ako ng utang and then at the same time tuloy-tuloy na din yung pagba-budget.

Gaano kalalim ang problema during this pandemic?

With your journey dito sa freelancing, meron ka bang narealize na supposed to be ginawa mo noon pa?

Are you enjoying your time with your kid now that you are a freelancer?

Yes. Ngayon, pwede kana gumising an hour or 30 minutes before your shift. And then after ng shift pwede ka pang makapag luto at kumain. Pwede kang makipag kulitan habang nagwowork.

Sa magandang sitwasyon mo sa corporate before the pandemic, babalikan mo pa ba iyon kung saka-sakali?

Sa totoo lang hindi na. Kahit ang ganda na nong position, for me nong na experience ko na ang pagiging freelancer, nag-iba na yung calling ko. Dito na ako sa freelancing.

  2. Thanks for the response Maam Patrixia and Sir Phoenix. Suppport Group is a big help, most especially for us as a newbie. That's why I'm asking if Support Group is available at VA BootCamp. And I'm glad to hear that, here in VA BootCamp has a Support Group.
