After 15 years in the corporate world…

5 years as OFW in Hongkong…

She’s now making a living as a Social Media Marketer.

Because she has a family, kailangan kumayod.

And freelancing has paved a way for her to provide for her love ones.

Meet Marie.

And fast forward to today.

Kasama na niya ang family niya while earning.

Hawak ang oras.

My time pa siyang matutunan ang ibang niche kung gusto niya pang mag upskill.

Let’s get to know her more on this replay.

INTRODUCTION

A Supermarket employee to an Office Clerk to an Overseas Filipino Worker. She goes through a lot of challenges but did not stop pursuing what she wants.

Started her freelancing career as a Social Media Marketer. An Overseas Filipino Worker to Online Filipino Worker who now enjoys the perk of being a work-at-home mom.

NOTABLE QUOTES

  • Huwag kang matakot magtanong.

MARIETY’S JOURNEY TO FREELANCING

  • At the age of 47, Marie helped her aunt in exchange for her studies. Her parents can't afford to send her to school, so she had to stay and help her aunt with her business in a school canteen.
  • After obtaining a degree, she worked in a Supermarket for six (6) months.
  • For almost 15 years she worked in a company as an office clerk but the company suddenly closed due to mismanagement.
  • She applied in a Job Fair and luckily, she passed and become an Overseas Filipino Worker for almost four (4) years.
  • She discovered freelancing when she saw FLIP on her Facebook wall and the JAS SUCCESS story of Ms. Anna Soriano.
  • She became her inspiration because they are almost the same age and started to stalk her Facebook profile for a year.
  • She enrolled in VA Bootcamp and started learning and joined the Guided Hustle Challenge after finishing the course.
  • When she was about to go home, the pandemic came and she had no choice but to extend her stay in Hong Kong without any contract from her employer just for her visa renewal.
  • Finally, after a year she can now go home and pursue her freelancing career.
  • She joined the Internship for 2 months in VA Bootcamp and gained more knowledge here.
  • Luckily after the Internship one of her co-Intern contacted her for a job recommendation, and she finally landed her first online job as a freelancer.
  • Right now, she continues to upskill to be ready to have more clients, while enjoying the time with her family.

QUESTION AND ANSWER

HOW WAS YOUR STUDIES?

Iba yung isip pag talagang nakikita mo ang family mo. May peace of mind na.

SA FREELANCE MAY DAPAT BA ISAKRIPISYO?
