Albert Einstein, Ludwig van Beethoven, and J.K. Rowling.

Aside from being famous, these people are known for being genius or gifted in their respective fields.

Hindi lahat pinalad maging gifted or talented and minsan mapapa-sana all ka na lang sa kanilang talent.

However, I believe talents or skills are not enough for a person to be successful.

And the aforementioned people didn’t rely on their talents alone to achieve their goals in life.

All successful people worked hard, faced several mistakes and failures, and persevered despite setbacks and obstacles.

They never stopped learning.

They continued to explore new things.

They didn’t quit or gave up.

It’s easy to go on when things are going your way, but it’s a different story when there are challenges and obstacles that keep you from moving forward.

According to inventor Alexander Graham Bell, the only difference between success and failure is the ability to take action.

I believe success will not be elusive when you combine hard work and determination regardless of your talent.

Meet Shane.

She used to be a dental assistant and then became an unemployed person.

Initially, she looked for jobs that wouldn’t require her to go out due to the pandemic.

Her failed efforts to work in ESL made her feel discouraged.

But she believes in her own skills and knows that she only needs to practice and work harder.

It motivated her to pursue online freelancing.

  • Notable Quotes:

  • Make it a habit na i-separate yung working hours nyo sa me time and personal life. Tapos mag stick ka sa schedule mo.
  • Then if you think that your progress is slow, that’s fine. Okay lang yan. We have our own phase naman. Ang mahalaga kasi doon may movement and honestly matutuwa ka, kasi ngayon  nag mo-move ka na, kasi a year from now, you'll look back and realize how much you’ve grown, skill wise and even in life din.
  • In freelancing you’ll always learn something new, saka may constant change, kaya you need to learn how to adapt fast, otherwise, you’ll be left behind.
  • Get out of your comfort zone, kasi yun yung ginawa ko. Challenges are normal.
  • Keep yourself healthy, tsaka matulog kayo, haha! Kailangan n’yong matulog. Kailangan n’yong magpahinga rin. - Shane
  • Journey To Freelancing
  • Shane is a graduate of dental hygiene, worked as a dental assistant, and then become unemployed.
  • She tried to apply to the BPO industry but didn't push through.
  • Also tried to apply as an ESL teacher because it's a trending job before. Unfortunately, she didn't make it and felt she doesn’t know how to teach.
  • She also looked for other work-from-home jobs like being a transcriptionist but also failed to get one.
  • As she applied for online jobs, she realized that she didn't know how to make the right cover letter or even a good resume. She also did some online research to learn more things about it however felt something is still missing then she decided not to continue that somehow made an impact on her losing her self-confidence.
  • One day her Aunt introduced her to the VA Bootcamp and upon enrolling in its course she slowly started to regain her self-confidence and learned to understand more of her skills.
  • She then joined the Guided Hustle Challenge and there met her first client. The person she met in GHC outsourced it to her.
  • Question and Answer

How long did it take you from that time na you're looking for WFH jobs until nadiskubre mo ang VA Bootcamp?

It started during pandemic palang while I'm applying for an ESL jobs kasi ayoko mag take ng risk to work outside kasi wala pang vaccine noon.

With the many months of frustrations di ka ba na depress?

The symptoms are there.

With your experiences of rejections Shane nag self-reflect ka ba? Na identify mo ba what is the reason why, majority?

Yes! Kaya pala walang positive results ay dahil may mali akong ginagawa, kulang ang aking ginagawa. I learned kung ano ang tamang approach.

Kumusta ka na after you enrolled the VA Bootcamp? May mga clients ka na ba?

Yes! nakakuha ako ng clients when I joined the Guided Hustle Challenge, a good person from GHC outsourced it to me.

Now that you are in freelancing can you compare yung mga sinasabi mo dati na kulang sayo when you are applying for BPO and ESL jobs? Pareho din ba sa freelancing?

Di naman po kasi natutunan ko na siya along the way.

How long did it take for you to regain your self-confidence?

There was a task that introduced to me na di ako familiar. It's about excel.

Yun bang pag-aaral mo ba sa VA Bootcamp, was it difficult for you?

Sa WordPress po ako nahirapan. Di ko siya masyado napagtuunan ng pansin. But during my internship mas na explore ko siya.

Since sabi mo outsourced ka naman. Did you ever try na mag-apply sa mga platforms? Did you try to get clients on your own and how was it?

I like that. Will there be a time na sasabihin mo na ayaw ko ng Excel talaga? Do you think in the future na may ganun kang sentiments?

Have you ever planned your future as a freelancer? meron ka bang naka set na pattern? What would you do from here?

For now, I'm not rushing anything. -Shane
