This is Jason Dulay from workfromhomeroadmap.com. And I want to ask you:
Can you guess what the #1 complaint with Filipino VAs is?
It's not that we lack the skills.
It's not that we lack the work ethic.
It's our lack of communication
"Filipinos have the tendency to fall off the face of the earth"
- John Sonmez, CEO of Simple Programmer
What John is complaining about is the most common complaint clients have with Filipinos. It's how Filipinos seem to disappear all of a sudden at times. And I've experienced this too, hiring with Filipino VAs and writers. As much as I like like to hire my own countrymen, it's disappointing how often they 'flake out' and disappear.
As Filipinos, we get scared of difficult emails - and end up not responding at all.
We don't want to deliver bad news.
We don't want to admit when we don't know something.
Instead of saying "no" to something, we prefer not to say anything.
We don't want to face our clients when something goes wrong.
So we disappear and don't respond. And clients end up wondering what went wrong. The worst thing about it is that we're becoming known for disappearing. Indians are hard to communicate with. Americans are picky with their jobs. Filipinos disappear.
It doesn't matter how skilled you are or smart you are. If you aren't responding, you're useless to your client.
Let's stop the Filipino trend of magically disappearing.
Keep in touch with your clients.
