When client-hunting becomes the norm, we tend to forget the human part of marketing our skills.
Every purchasing decision is an emotional one, this applies to online clients as well.
If your goal is to be a fully-booked Virtual Assistant, aim to be someone that clients LOVE to work with.
How do you go about doing that?
Let's do a quick review...
As a virtual assistant, your primary role is to help and simplify your client's life, right?
Whether it's making appointments, sending emails, or managing his/her social media accounts, you are your client’s right hand.
To be effective in your primary role as a VA, you need to first understand your client.
Beyond understanding the skills and tasks needed, empathizing with his personal goals and business vision goes a long way.
Every client has invested his own money and time into starting his online business.
Some of them may have motivations just like yours - wanting to get out of corporate, becoming his/her own boss, to spend more time with family, and so on.
By seeking to understand them first, you best connect, build rapport, and anticipate their needs.
No one wants a virtual assistant that they need to constantly check up on.
Clients have set aside some budget to pay for your skills, respect this by doing what you're supposed to do and meeting deadlines.
But don't just stop there... It doesn't hurt to go the extra mile and exceed expectations too!
Say, you've been hired to manage their emails, but you also noticed that they need help with social media, don't be afraid to reach out and offer your services for that as well.
Not only will you increase your income, but you will also show your client that you’re invested in the success of their business.
Technology is always changing and upgrading. As an online freelancer, you need to do the same.
Take the time to learn about new social media platforms, marketing strategies, and virtual assistant skills.
Invest in online courses or learn through YouTube tutorials.
The more you learn, the more skilled you get in helping clients.
You'll establish credibility as the go-to expert in your field and you won't run out of services to offer.
Every successful relationship needs trust.
And trust is built through open communication, understanding, and meeting expectations over time. No shortcuts.
If you do this consistently for even just 2 or 3 clients, you're already a fully-booked Virtual Assistant.
Tasks, projects, recommendations will keep coming your way...
As a client myself, I find it challenging to find skilled and proactive freelancers nowadays.
Believe me, the entire hiring process is just as daunting to clients as it is to freelancers.
So when your clients LOVE you and your services, they won’t let you go.
In addition, most clients will have entrepreneur friends too. When they recommend you to them, you get a pool of potential clients right there.
It’s going to take some real effort to get to this level.
But this effort always pays off because soon enough, you won't have to hunt for clients - they'll keep coming to you. 😉

One of the reasons why experience is known as the best teacher, is because we were born with nothing but experience in the future we can choose to take.
