Notable Quotes:

  • Talagang pinagdiinan ko I will start talaga with $5. Tapos naging 7 tapos nung naging top rated sabi ko I will go for 8 gusto ko pa nga sana 10 ang sabi ko sige $1 at a time lang $8 muna.
  • By being an admin sa Work From Home Pinoys Facebook page, masheshare ko yung knowledge ko na natutunan sa Upwork and sa Freelancing. So I wanted to be an inspiration to others. To mothers like me na gusto ring magkaroon ng work, kasama yung mga anak nila and family nila at the same time.
  • So hindi lang dun sa mga nakapagaral dun yung mga hindi rin nakagraduate may chance din kayo na makapag work din sa bahay by adding skills by enrolling perhaps sa Work From Home Roadmap.
  • Don't lose hope kahit hindi ka nakagraduate madami pa ding work na pwede kang mahanap sa Upwork and other platforms
  • Ang tip ko lang dapat talaga be patient and more on hardwork din. Kung nag start ka pa lang to find jobs, try searching, reading and include prayers kasi nakakatulong talaga siya. So yun din, yun ang ginawa ko basically nagpuyat ako para makahanap ng work so nag paid off naman baka mag paid off din sainyo,  try niyo lang.

Anna Soriano’s Journey to freelancing:

  • A college graduate and stay at home mom with 4 kids.
  • An Upwork member even before she joined the VA bootcamp.  Already applying to jobs but were rejected.  She realized that, maybe, there’s something wrong with what she’s doing, and right there, she decided to enroll in the VA bootcamp course.
  • Learning from the course, she found out her mistakes.  Applying all the things she learned, in just one week, she finally got her first client doing data entry work.
  • She’s now a Top rated freelancer in Upwork with 100% Job Success Score.

Q&A Highlights:

How are you doing right now? Are you comfortable sharing, like, your earnings or your clients and things like that? What are you experiencing right now when it comes to your work from home career, your VA career and freelancing?

Currently nga ‘yon may new contracts tapos enough lang naman din yung mga, yung income because hindi naman ako nagfu-full time because mas focus pa rin sa kids, since 4 boys nga yung anak ko. So I get to work only two to three hours but yung income parang nasa office-based ka rin na, you don’t need to commute every day. Parang mas talagang mas magandang nasa bahay because parang same lang din yung income pag andun sa office, 8 hours pa yon, tapos wla ka ng time for the kids. Wala ka ng time for the household chores and all, yon. So talagang mas ma advantage yung working at home.

Can you share parang what’s the reason why you were first starting to look for working from home?

Ayun, since I graduated with the four-year course I felt na parang staying at home lang is not enough. And also may business naman kami pero siyempre parang yung knowledge mo ba you can’t use it anymore kung nasa house ka lang. So parang to add additional income why not that apply it when you can work naman at home.  So yon I decided when I saw your ads sa FB, I decided to enroll na para malaman ko yung mga ins and outs of freelancing. So ‘yon.

How long did it take for you to get parang from the typing jobs na $5, 12 hours to the time you were hired na parang let’s say the client you have right now?

Mga 3 days after lang.  Oo kaya natuwa ako sabi ko sobrang effective talaga nung pagkakaenroll tsaka parang naging talagang yung investment bumalik agad sakin triple pa. Di lang triple kasi meron pa on going so talagang ano siya, talagang naging magandang pangyayari siya sa buhay ko.

Your hourly rate dati how much was it at that time?

Oo $5. 4 months time, $8 na kaagad ako so sabi ko, I’m so happy kasi ang galing ng progress di ba.

What were your challenges and how did you overcome them?

Yun nga I accepted the offer from you because mainly I wanted to be, to help others also who are still starting on freelancing parang kasi nung time na ako parang nangangapa din ako so alam ko yung feeling ng mga newbies na hindi nila alam kung saan magsisimula. So naisip ko by being an admin masheshare ko yung knowledge ko na natutunan sa Upwork and sa Freelancing. So I wanted to be an inspiration to others. To mothers like me na gusto ring magkaroon ng work, kasama yung mga anak nila and family nila at the same time.

If you’re speaking directly to the mothers who probably working full time, they’re going to corporate or housewives who are just taking care of the kids pero they want to help their husbands earn money. What would you say to them?

So hindi lang dun sa mga nakapagaral dun yung mga hindi rin nakagraduate ano rin, may ano rin kayo, chance din kayo na makapag work din sa bahay by adding skills by enrolling perhaps sa Work at Home Roadmap.

Do you have any last tips?

Tips. Ang tip ko lang dapat talaga be patient and more on hardwork din. Kung nagsastart ka pa lang to find jobs, try searching, reading and include prayers kasi nakakatulong talaga siya. So yun din, yun ang ginawa ko basically nagpuyat ako para makahanap ng work so nag paid off naman baka mag paid off din sa inyo,  try niyo lang.
