5 Flexi-Time Jobs for Stay-at-Home Moms

Honey, a proud WAHM, began her freelancing career in 2017 after "retiring" from the BPO as a trainer for more than 10 years . She is now a Social Media Specialist to premium clients and a SuperWoman who juggles between this role, being a mom, and a wife.

Mommies, check all that apply:

☐ Family is top priority.

☐ You love taking care of your kids.

☐ Some extra income would be great.

☐ You want to put your talents into good use.

All of the above, right?

As a mom myself, I know your feeling all too well.

You want hands-on care for your family, but you also want to provide for them – even if it means losing sleep and juggling in between tasks.

Since you’re reading this blog, you’ve probably been looking around, searching for online jobs.

That’s great! You’re on the right track.

But as you may have found, not all online jobs suit our mommy lifestyles well.

Flexibility is the real key here, that’s why I highly recommend flexi-time projects for freelancer moms.

Expectations for Flexi-time Jobs

Flexi-time means you have the freedom to complete your tasks whenever you want, as long as you are able to provide the desired results at a designated deadline.

You still hold your hours, so you can be a “mom” while accepting online projects on the side.

But remember, there will still be occasions when clients will set meetings or calls on their time zones. You won’t get so much flexibility there, but depending on the discussion, this usually doesn’t take long and only happens occasionally.

TOP 5 Flexi-Sched Online Tasks:

1. Writing (or Editing/Proofreading)

Writing (or Editing/Proofreading) is one of the best jobs for stay at home moms

If you have that creative flair within you, then it is high time you unleash that and make some buck out of it.

Writing does not necessarily require you to sit at your desk, glued to the client’s schedule to do your work.

Aside from communicating with the client and doing some research, you may work on your writing tasks without internet access.

Take this blog post, for example.

While writing this, I wasn’t connected to the internet. In fact, I took multiple “breaks” in between to bring my son to school, clean the house, cook meals, etc. Once you’re ready to submit your piece, that’s when you’d need to go online.?

If you’d rather ‘improve’ someone’s draft rather than create content from scratch, then editing and proofreading jobs would be good for you.

Still no hourly trackers needed on this one, just impeccable grammar and attention to details.

2. Graphics or Video Editing

If your creative flair has to do with images & illustrations, you can design logos, book covers, or banners for clients.

Editing videos might require some technical skills, but hey, anything can be learned.

Branding and marketing is huge online! You won’t have a hard time finding business owners who’d pay to grow their audience through attractive graphics or shareable videos.

And the best part? It doesn’t tie you down to a work shift!

Most graphics or video editors I know normally receive design instructions and a deadline, then they’re off to do the work.

3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Any technical mommies out there who love data and analytics? SEO is a great field to explore.

You’ll be dissecting clients’ websites to see how they could appear on the first page of Google or Bing. The closer you get them to the #1 ranking, the better!

4. Web Design

Web design might sound techie-ish, but don’t let that intimidate you.

With customizable themes and plug-ins, learning web design is very doable nowadays. I’ve even created my own website myself, simply from Googling articles and watching Youtube videos.(?)

If you could spare some time to learn web design, it’s a lucrative skill to offer online.

5. Social Media Specialist

The social media industry is massive! You’ll find social media roles that require you to work during clients’ timezones, but then again, you’ll find some flexi-time ones.

You can be a marketer, a strategist, growth hacker or a community manager… so many opportunities!

If you love social media, this is an interesting path to take.

Wild Card: Virtual Assistance

This holds a special place because it’s a generalist position, so anything is possible here. For moms who are new to the online world, being a virtual assistant is a perfect place to start.

Because of its flexibility, virtual assistance could introduce you to multiple industries and online skills such as research, transcription, data entry, and possibly EVERYTHING that I’ve listed from 1-5.

We have an awesome 5-day FREE course on how to start as a Virtual Assistant. I started my freelancing journey by watching this very same free course, so I recommend that you check it out.

Now since it’s a generalist position, getting a flexi-schedule will depend greatly on your negotiation skills.

I’m currently handling 9 clients as a Virtual Assistant and ALL flexi-time ?

I bet you’re wondering how I did that?

I’m going to tell you in detail on my next post, so watch out for it, okay?

For now, remember that as a mommy freelancer, you are in control of your own time.

Remember the checklist you did at the beginning?

It’s possible to live life with all the 4 boxes checked.

I’ve done it, so there’s really no reason why you can’t.

It won’t be easy at first, but don’t underestimate our strength as moms. I know that we can succeed through everything we set our minds into.

Anything for the family! They come first. ?
