  • Fake it till you make it. Huwag ka magpapahalatang kinakabahan ka.
  • Huwag mong sukuan kung ano man ang gusto mo sa buhay, may times na down ka, darating talaga yan. Part of life yan basta huwag ka magstay dun.
  • Kung anu’ng gusto nyo dapat magtiwala kayo sa sarili nyo. Pero kong wala kang believe sa sarili mo wala talagang mangyayare.

Mariz Journey to Freelancing

  • She was a Grade 4 working student from Province of Bohol.
  • She was a convent helper in high school.
  • She stopped studying in 4th year high school because of personal reason. Then she started to help her family in farming.
  • She got work in Manila as a house helper. Then she worked as saleslady for 2 years.
  • She tried to apply at call center but she didn't have the confidence to speak English that’s why she enrolled at an English school in Makati.
  • She was hired as a marketing officer at the same English school where she enrolled. She experienced guiding new students and organizing events.
  • She stopped working (English School) when she got pregnant.
  • She was hired as part time assistant exhibitor for 3 1/2 years.
  • While she was in her second client on Upwork, she got another 7 clients at the same time and she realized that she was earning 15k to 19k every week.
  • While she was a virtual assistant freelancer and earned enough she planned to continue her dreams.
  • Last year she enrolled in school as BSIT student because she wants to apply her skills to her freelancing career.
  • She never gave up on her dreams while she had work as freelancer, right now her heart is for freelancing.

Anu po kaya ung internet connection ni maam Maris?

Ang internet connection ko ngaun ay Sky cable 1,599 a month unlimited na siya hanggang 8-10mbps. Mayy free cable na, wala ka ng babayarang 500 a month.

Since nasabi mo kanina parang, pinagsasabay mo ung tatlo paanu mo na figure out ung time management mo?

Hindi naman lahat fulltime, isa lang talaga ung fulltime ko, tapos the rest is part time. Tapos last year nag-aral ako binitawan ko ung fulltime ko. It’s a choice, huwag kang kumuha ng responsibilities na hindi mo kayang panindigan, don't over promise kasi ikaw din ang masisira ng clients, do your best.

Anung mga difficulties ang nameet mo during start ng career mo as virtual assistant?

Yung pinaka struggle is may task na ibibigay sayo pero hindi mo alam kong paanu umpisahan. Pero you have to do it. Communication lang sa client, be specific. Fake it till you make it, huwag ka magpapahalatang kinakabahan ka.

Wala po bang age limit dito sa bootcamp?

Kahit ilang taon ka na basta kaya mo lang gawin lahat ng ipapagawa ni client. Thankful talaga ako nakilala ko ung bootcamp, dun ko talaga lahat natutunan. Huwag kang manghinayang sa enroll mo.

Paanu mo hinaharap mga failures mo kung meron man?

Marami naman talaga tayong failures, nobody’s perfect. Huwag mong sukuan kung ano ang gusto mo sa buhay.

Sa Upwork lang ba ikaw kumukuha ng client mo?

No, meron akong Upwork ngaun pero may direct client ako sa LinkedIn. marami namang platform, hindi lang naman sa Upwork.
