Q&A Highlights

How did you find out about freelancing?
After having her first baby, she decided to explore, sabi ko baka naman mayroong work opportunity na work from home talaga, alam mo yun, yung set-up. Work from home talaga, hindi na 'yung office na magre-request to work from home kasi ganun na 'yung trend nung sa work ko before.
Her friend introduced Jason to her, sabi ko, na-mention ko sa kanya na parang gusto kong magstart mag work from home.
Ganun pero ayun nakakabilib din kasi nga parang nagta-travel at the same time nagwowork-ganyan tapos they are earning more for themselves so sabi, "Pwede pala."

Where did you find the grit, when things were really tough? Ano yung source of strength mo?
It all started early with my biggest WHY. I didn't realize na 'yun nga, when I took the courses, isang katerbang courses na kinuha ko. Kailangan daw ng Why, so parang I didn't realize na yun pala na parang may biggest why din pala ako.
Yun nga, its started with the wanting to spend more time with my kid and being there for her, na ganyan present ako and that kung meron man opportunity to be able to provide for my family.
That I don't have to leave her all the time and spending away from her yun nga pag nagta-travel ako to other places, ganun. Kung may ganung opportunity, why not diba? Kasi it's still earning naman na parang, you still be able to earn at the same time so bakit hindi? So yun talaga, ini-explore ko talaga.
That time I made that decision and yun nga, yun time na nagdecide ako to take all these courses to apply to these jobs that I had applied for.

Ano ang pinakavision mo?
May 2 akong content marketing clients as of the moment, pero I'm looking to get more. Pero dahil nga ang lawak ng content marketing so If I tend to get more clients, kakailanganin ko din ng tulong. So, maraming tao talaga, I need to have my own WAHM's team.

How to chose a particular skill or niche to pursue?
So yun nga, gusto ko siya eh compare sa halimbawa when you decide to sell something online.
It's basically the same thing kasi when you're freelancing, you're basically selling yourself and your skills to this client na kailangan ang skills mo.
So when halimbawa, pag magbebenta ka ng something online, paano ka pipili nung ibebenta mo kasi andami daming pwede eh benta pero yun nga when you choose, halimbawa, magbebenta ka ng Mug (kasi may mug sa harap ko).
Pag magbebenta ka ng mug, when you focus on a particular product, mas may chance na mabenta mo siyang mabuti kasi mas maaaral mo siya, yung product mismo, yung benefits niya dun sa bibili.
Bakit niya kailangan ng mug ganyan, pwede mo siyang mas mapaganda, ano bang design ganyan. Ano bang quality ng mug mo ganyan. So its the same thing with freelancing naman when you tell your skills when you focus on a particular skill, you'll have a better chance of perfecting that skill and becoming an authority in that particular skill you have chosen.
Hindi ka maka focus, so mas maganda kung mag focus ka dun sa isa and be the best on that particular skill and tsaka mo siya ibenta kasi  when you become better din, mas nagiging confident ka to sell that particular skill to clients, mas makakacommunicate ka na alam na alam mo siya.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how strict are you as a mother?
Eight (8).

If you could have time travel, when would you go?
Walang particular time, basta yung time na buhay pa yung Mom ko.

What was your favorite toy growing up?
Growing up? Nung bata pa ah? Mga teks, alam mo yung mga teks? Marvel, basta mga ano, character, basta ganun, tomboy kasi ako nung bata ako.

What is the best piece of advice you received?
Eh qu-quote ko yung coach ko ngayon. Si coach Neil Reichl, "Pakit, Just do it."
Walang isip-isip kasi I tend to over think kasi so ayun, basta go lang ng go. Wag na masyado mag overthink.

What is the most courageous thing you've ever done?
I think eto, freelancing. It really tests my ano din eh, yung character ko yung lahat na parang it really puts me outside my comfort zone.
Pero etong freelancing pinupush ako na sige go up, go out na parang ano-connect with people ganyan na parang eh promote ko yung sarili mo.

What are your tips to newbie freelancers?

Anong niche mo ganyan? Kasi parang ang thinking nila is parang if they do the same thing, they'll earn as much ganyan. Parang ganun, that's one way of doing it.
Pero it won't be, parang kasi ang success ng ibang tao might be different from your own success. Parang that's the beauty of freelancing nga na you have the power to decide, whatever you want to achieve and whatever particular skill or niche for you to focus on diba?
Baka it will  not always work for you.
So you must focus on building your own strength, pursuing your own path, kasi hindi ka dapat nagre-rely sa journey ng iba, you have to create your own journey.

How about sa may experience na who want to upskill, what are your tips for them?

Isa talaga sa mga nakatulong sakin, sorry sobra kong pino-promote si Mamu kasi anlaking tulong niya lang talaga sa freelancing journey ko kasi when I had her as a mentor, iba yung level of support, yung learning, ganyan.
So siguro another advice I could give is if you want to learn a particular niche faster and para masabak ka talaga sa work. You really need to try to seek a mentor talaga and learn from that particular person who is already doing, that particular niche you want to explore.
Kasi guys, iba kasi yung level of learning yung parang sinasabak ka kaagad sa work kaysa yung mag-aral ka ng course na ikaw na nag seself study ka lang, parang ganun.
Iba talaga pag may mentor tapos yun nga, pwede ka pang magtanong ng directly na parang, pag pumalpak ka.Hindi naman okay lang, pero at least pag pumalpak ka hindi mo kailangan eh process on your own.

Meron kang katulong na magpa-process nung problem mo o meron kang kadamay. And may mag-guide sayo kung ano ba yung kailangan mo improve, kasi minsan pag nag-fail tayo on our own.

So, it really helps.
