Today we're going to talk about how to become a transcriptionist. We had a couple of transcriptionist jobs come up in the Facebook group and the couple of people asking how to transcription so I decided to create a video to teach how to do this really quickly.

So first of all, here, what does transcriptionists do? As a transcription is all you need to do is turn audio into text files. You listen two videos you listen, to speeches and write them in a text processor and that's it. Very simple task.

So, why should you become a transcriptionist?

  • Transcriptionists can earn between forty centy to eighty cents per audio minute transcribed, depending if you do a good job. So that might be a reason why you want to become a transcriptionists. And there are lots of transcriptions jobs available online.
  • Another reason is because they're easier than most online jobs out there. Transcriptionists, you don't need to know how to program. You don't need how to know how to manage social media, no need for marketing skills as long as you can listen and type quickly, type accurately then you can do the transcriptions jobs.

Why should you not become a transcriptionists?

  • Okay so, these are the become one first of all the job is pretty boring. It's not exciting. There's, it's really simple. So if you're someone who looks for excitement transcription might not be for you.
  • Second the pay is a little low compared to some other jobs transcriptionist jobs don't pay as much because they don't require a lot of skills. So that's up to you whether that's a pro or con for you.
  • Also there's little room for growth unless you move into medical transcriptionists work you can't really become a master transcription is you can become a manager or supervisor if unless you learn other skills. You can really grow a lot and you can earn a lot more even no matter how good you are become a transcriptionist unless you go into medical trends transcriptionist  work which which they pay a lot more for.

Okay. So, what do you need in order to transcribe? Basically two things just need a word processor maybe Microsoft Word you can even use Notepad just to write your transcription and some software to let you listen to audio files. And that's it. You don't need anything else. Optionally if your audio playback software can let you slow down or slow down some audio that would be really good because you can listen to it slower,  give you more time to transcribe also if you have automatic transcriptionist software like Express Scribe that's a pretty popular software to transcribe automatically but then it makes a good number it makes a lot of mistakes and you're gonna have to go back to the, to the what the software made and then edit it before you send it to the client or else the clients gonna get mad at you if you just use the software because once again makes a lot of mistakes.

So step-by-step what do you do with transcription.

  • You just listen to the audio files and transcribe it.
  • You slow down the speed if necessary just make sure you format the file properly put no quotation marks but bolds.
  • Double check spelling and grammar and send it to the client and that's it once again it's a really simple task.Take note that the most common mistake Filipinos make during transcription our spelling and grammar mistakes and this is, this is very obvious for clients.

So you want to make sure that your English spelling and your English grammar are top-notch. And if you, if you do want to learn more about how to improve your English so whether you want to become a transcriptionist and improve your grammar or if you choose not to become a transcriptionist it's always good to improve our English that when we deal with clients we can get those can't get those jobs that we want to and be able to express ourselves better. So we have our free course the five Filipino English mistakes that stop you from succeeding online i'm going to include a link to this, below this video once again if you want to become transcriptionist is very good for you or even if you don't this will still help you with your online career.
