Most of us, if not all of us have experienced rock bottom in one way or another.

It may seem bleak and tiresome but we need to realize that there’s no other way but UP when we’re at the bottom.

Yes, it’s difficult and challenging but we still need to keep on moving forward.

Easier said than done but taking action, even one small step at a time, is better than being stuck.

Don’t dwell on disappointments too much.

Take a look at the positives and keep looking ahead.

Never lose hope.

Meet Margielyn.

She worked as a call center agent, administrative assistant, clerk, bank teller, and real estate agent.

She wanted to earn more but at the same time be present for her two toddlers.

She also wanted her OFW husband to stay home and be with the family.

Her journey in freelancing wasn’t easy, she felt scammed out of her Php 10,000 for a course that she never used and didn’t gain any knowledge from.

She also struggled with balancing her time at work and at home.

As a result, she felt so down and depressed.

She thought freelancing is not meant for her.

In 2021, she discovered FLIP and its courses.

Despite her qualms, she decided to avail of VAB courses and continued on her freelancing journey.

Now, she can help pay their monthly bills on time and save some money as well.

She has more time to take care of her kids and still works as a real estate agent and online freelancer.

Her fear and setbacks didn’t stop her from going after her dreams.

She still took a risk and waited patiently for her breakthrough.

Her courage, hard work, and persistence led to her breakthrough and freedom.

Journey to Freelancing

  •   A graduate of IT, she drew interest in video and photo editing during her  college days she worked part-time as a call center agent.
  • There was a time when she had to stop studying, but she made herself participate in government projects every summer to support the rest of her tuition fee for education.
  • When she graduated, she worked as an administrative assistant, then she was transferred to a warehouse as an inventory clerk. During the whole year at work, she seemed to be lacking and felt bored and did not see herself that would last 5 years or 10 years in that kind of work.
  •   Video editing and photo editing is really what she is looking for, so she made it a fast-time income, then when she worked at the bank as a teller, she thought that she would end up working there until she had a family and needed a choice between being a mom or a working mom. She also struggled with balancing her time at work and home.

.

  •  In 2019, her husband needs to work abroad but the finances are still not enough to earn, in 2021 she wants her OFW husband to stay home and be with the family.
  •  Until she had the eagerness to find a job as a freelancer when she researched a page, she paid but which was far from her expectation, she felt scammed out of her Php 10,000 for a course that she never used and didn’t gain any knowledge from.
  • Then she found the VAB page, there was a free webinar, and followed everything, she had 2 invitations but his knowledge of being a freelancer was not like that enough until she enrolled in the VAB and finished the course in just 3 weeks, she applied but no one pay attention to her cover letter
  •  She applied to be an intern at VAB and tried everything to gain more skills that fit her wants and skills until she had a client.
  • In less than a year of working as a freelancer, she was able to provide for their finances and unfortunately, her husband never returned to work abroad. But it wasn't an easy smooth journey, with lots of challenges, failures, heartbroken days, and a bumpy road but there are ways to recover, and it's all worth it.

                              Q&A Highlights

Have you ever felt na mag give up dahil sa failure ma nangyari during your freelancing journey?

What is the driving force that keeps you going?

When you enrolled in the course at VAB, there were many more shiny niches, hindi ka ba nasilaw ?

Are you happy now with your client?
