E-mail Marketing Practice (Assignments)

Lesson Progress:

Assignment A:

Browsing through Upwork for email marketing jobs, you’ll most likely bump into posts like this:

As the email marketer, it is your job to create different campaigns that will turn the client’s email subscribers into customers.

For this assignment, let’s practice by creating a campaign that pushes StreetW’s 5-day summer sale. All their email subscribers will get 20% off all purchases made through clicking the link on your e-mail (Let’s just use the link: www.google.com).

In Drip, create a short 5-day email campaign. The discount link is valid for 5 days.

Write the following emails and add them to the campaign:

a. An email announcing the 5-day sale.

The subject of this email must be personalized and must contain the subscriber’s name. Example, if the subscriber’s name is Anna, she should get an email with the subject “We’ve got a Special Sale just for you, Anna!”

b. Email highlighting street wear and summer with a link to the ongoing sale (to be sent on the 3rd day)
c. Email reminding that the discount link is expiring tomorrow (to be sent on the 4th day)
d.Email reminding that the discount expires today (to be sent on the 5th day)

Remember to use attention-grabbing Subject lines that subscribers can’t resist but click!

Assignment B:

As an email marketer, you will get asked to diagnose existing email marketing campaigns for improvement. Just like this Upwork job post I found:

In order to help this client, you’ll have to analyze the results of his old campaigns.
Say for example, after checking his Drip numbers, this is what you get:

Number of Subscribers in this Campaign: 2,500

a. Create a proposal on how you will improve the campaign’s Open Rates.

b. Upon checking his emails, one email which has the subject: ‘We’re selling the best shoes in town’ has the following content:

Welcome to the Online Shoes Newsletter, your friendly supplier of the best footwear in town. We try to help both men and women distinguish and discern from a bevy of footwear options which pairs of shoes are the best to wear in certain situations. Here, we will help you pick out the best pair of shoes for you that will fit you best, and will be most comfortable for you as well despite the fact that you would be standing all day long.

We understand that not all shoes are made with the design that the wearer would be standing and walking around in them all day. Some shoes are designed purely for aesthetic purposes; such as high-heeled shoes. Can you imagine walking around in those all day long? Well, your feet probably can’t. And this is where Online Shoes comes in!

As we go through one pair to another, we try to find the best pair of shoes for you so you would no longer have to go through the whole trial and error process of having to wear different kinds of shoes until you find the best one for you.

Thank you!

How can you improve this email’s click rates?
